Living near several peaks over a mile high gives us access to a climate resembling New England or southeastern Canada. So many times over the years my family would journey into the highlands to enjoy winter landscapes unlike anything else in the South. Snow and ice transform landscapes in intriguing and unimaginable ways.
“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool” (Isaiah 1:18). The Creator cites snow as symbolic of the forgiveness of sin those who place their faith in His Son receive. It’s also remarkable to me how a snowpack covers a landscape, often hiding ugly details to create a new and beautiful, frozen world.
