I’ve often said that I’m not an artist in the traditional sense of painting a picture. Instead, I capture photographs of creations by others—whether it’s the work of God in nature or human craftsmanship in man-made subjects.
Instead, I feel what photographers do is wield several key elements: subject selection, timing, lighting, composition, and processing to achieve a specific aesthetic. A photographer also understands the capabilities and limitations of his or her equipment.
These aspects come together to reflect my personal style and evoke the desired emotion or impact I hope to achieve. When photographing people, my goal is to provide context and tell a compelling story.

And when necessary, I also license images from stock photography companies to accompany something I write. Photographs included in posts are typically attributed in captions beneath the images.
