My experience in a darkroom installed in me a deep love for the black and white medium. I believe that composition is best learned in black and white, as one is forced to regard contrast, light, texture, shape, form, and balance. This article titled “The Black and White Composition” by Harold Davis is very insightful. And one cannot forget the work of the photographic master Ansel Adams. Any student of photography should consider Adams’ work.
