People living in temperate climates are blessed to experience four seasons. By design, autumn ends summer with an explosion of color unrivaled by even spring. And when the colors finally break down into patterns and textures, we see intricate shapes of toffee, sepia, and taupe. I have said it before. We have a huge example of something being beautiful that didn’t have to be. Summer could just fade to brown. But leaves, on their way to crunchy brown obliteration, reveal bold, baked-in colors as the green fades away. Did you know the vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows are always present? During spring and summer, these pigments are hidden beneath the dominance of chlorophyll. Why is that? Maybe it’s because it is another expression of a glorious God who expresses His brilliance in brilliance. We make vacations to see the fall colors because we are awestruck by them. Take the awe a step further and be awestruck by the Creator.
